Higher business activities coupled with purchasing ability and urban requirements make the capital city the primary location for car sales.

Middle-income Bangladeshi consumers drive the majority of car advertising in their country because they lead the national market trend. 26% of the displayed car advertisements offer prices between BDT 20-30 lakh thus establishing this price bracket as the key demand segment. Cars priced from BDT 30-40 lakh represent 25% of all listed vehicles. Premium cars above BDT 40 lakh have 24% listing shares. The BDT 10-20 lakh interval includes 17% of listings followed by BDT 5-10 lakhs priced cars with 6% listings. The inventory includes only 2% of vehicles priced under BDT 5 lakh which primarily consists of outdated cars from the 1990s and the following decade.

New VS Reconditioned Cars

For many years, the Bangladeshi car market has been dominated by reconditioned vehicles. While the demand for brand-new cars is gradually on the rise, it remains largely confined to the upper-income segment of buyers.

According to data from Bikroy, 59% of the car listings on our platform are for reconditioned cars. These vehicles are typically imported after being driven abroad for a few years, then refurbished to appear almost brand new. They offer a more affordable alternative to new cars while being in better shape than most used cars.

Used cars come in a close second, accounting for 40% of all listings. These vehicles have been previously owned and are sold based on their current condition, making them the most budget-friendly option in the market.

Brand-new car listings make up just 1% of the total on Bikroy, with most ads coming from certified car dealerships.

Types of Cars Listed on Bikroy

Among all car listings on Bikroy, saloon cars or sedans lead the way, accounting for 36% of the total. These standard 4-seater vehicles are a popular choice among individual buyers in Bangladesh, thanks to their excellent fuel efficiency and suitability for small families.

SUVs follow with 20% of the listings, while Multi Purpose Vehicles (MPVs) account for 19% of the ads. Other car types make up 18% of the total listings. Both SUVs and MPVs are ideal for larger families and are built to handle a variety of terrains—making them perfect for road trips and family adventures.

Hatchbacks represent the remaining 7% of the listings, offering compact and efficient options for city driving.

Outlook and Forecast for the Car Market in 2025

Electric and hybrid vehicles will continue to gain popularity in the predicted growth pattern of the Bangladeshi automobile industry during 2025. Economic stability together with fuel prices and government policies will determine how the market develops. The market predictions suggest Toyota will maintain its leadership position even though increased competition from other automobile brands and fresh market entrants will lead to consumer choice diversification.
