How to Keep Your Smartphone Battery Healthy in Dhaka

Nowadays, not only are humans and animals suffocating in the heat of Dhaka, but it also affects electronic gadgets. Excessive temperature causes battery draining. Excessive temperature is quite harmful to lithium-ion batteries. Therefore, if the battery is exposed to heat for a long time, its life and performance gradually decrease.

However, due to excessive use and various irregularities, smartphones’ battery life and performance decrease. Therefore, various problems arise in smartphones before the expected time. However, by following some simple tips and tricks, you can greatly increase your smartphone’s battery life.

Some effective tips to extend smartphone battery life in Dhaka’s heat

(1) Keep your smartphone away from the sun and heat

Do not use your mobile in hot places unnecessarily. Using or charging your phone in the intense sun can cause the phone’s battery and processor to overheat and degrade quickly. Do not place your smartphone on or near stoves, ovens, refrigerators, or car dashboards. The ideal temperature for charging the battery is 20 to 30 degrees Celsius.

(2) Close background and unnecessary apps

Apps running in the background heat the phone. Go to settings and check ‘Battery Usage’ and close unnecessary apps. Turn off GPS, Bluetooth, mobile data, and Wi-Fi when not needed. These apps update data in the background, which drains the battery.

(3) Use original chargers and avoid fast charging

Avoid using chargers with more watts than the recommended wattage for the specific model of mobile, as this generates excess heat. Also, low-quality chargers reduce battery life. Avoid unnecessary fast charging. Normal charging takes a little longer, but it is good for battery health.

(4) Save battery life by reducing screen brightness

The main reason for the rapid depletion of battery charge on hot days is the display. If the phone’s screen brightness is increased too much, the phone heats up after a short period of use. You can turn on the ‘Adaptive Brightness’ feature from the settings. It will automatically adjust the brightness based on the ambient light.

(5) Use airplane mode in heavy traffic and network problems

If you are stuck in heavy traffic and have network problems, there is a lot of pressure on the mobile’s processor and battery. This causes the battery to heat up, and the charge starts to drain quickly. In traffic situations, maps, location, and navigation heat up the battery quickly. In such a situation, you can save battery by turning on Airplane Mode for a short time.

(6) Avoid using the phone while charging

Do not use the phone while charging. If you want to talk, take the phone off the charger and talk. Never charge the smartphone while playing graphically intensive games, as it increases the temperature of the phone and damages the battery.

(7) Maintain charging time

Try to always keep the battery charge between 20%–80%. Always charging it to 100% or charging it to 0% reduces the health of the battery. Try to charge it only when the battery charge is close to 20%, and stop charging when it reaches 80%.

(8) Avoid using heavy apps and playing games

Various video editing software and graphically intensive games heat the mobile. Regular use of these apps damages the battery life.

Some other common tricks to increase smartphone battery life in hot weather

(1) Charge your phone in the afternoon or at night when it’s cooler outside.

(2) If your phone gets too hot, switch on airplane mode and let it cool off.

(3) Allow location access to apps that need it.

(4) Pick a reliable power bank to use.

(5) Turn on battery saver mode when your charge drops below 40%.

(6) Switch to dark mode to save power.

(7) Take off the phone case while charging to help heat escape.

(8) Don’t leave your phone plugged in after it’s charged; unplug it between 80-100%.

Your smartphone needs some extra care during summer. It’s normal for your phone’s battery to drain faster in Dhaka’s intense heat, but you can keep your battery healthy by following these simple tips and using your phone. Remember, smart use will make your smartphone battery last longer.
