Bikroy.com, the largest marketplace of Bangladesh has announced the winners name of the Business case competition, ‘The Game Changer’. Students from the Institute of Business Administration and Faculty of Business School of Jahangirnagar University have participated in this competition. Prizes were handed over to the winners at the Grand Finale of this competition at the auditorium of Jahangirnagar University.
With ‘Inviting creative minds to showcase your innovative ideas’ tagline, this month–long competition was started with the students of IBA and FBS. Total 7 teams participated in this competition and 4 teams reached to the grand finale. Participants were able to acquire practical knowledge about e–commerce business through this competition. The First prize winner team won BDT 30,000 and the Second prize winner team won BDT 20,000.
The First prize winner team, named G.O.A.T was comprised of Sheikh Abdullah Bin Alam and Zareen Nowreen Sharif who are second-year students of JU. The second prize winner team, named TARZAN was comprised of Abdullah Al Mashruk Anim, Saad Shah Ali and Ashfak Zaman who are the students of the first year; came in runner-up in the competition. Dr. Sheikh Mohammed Rafiul Huque, Associate Professor (IBA–JU); Chowdhury Golam kibria, Associate Professor of (IBA – JU); Eshita Sharmin, Director of Marketing and Ad Sales of Bikroy; Isa Abrar Ahmed, Head of Vehicles & Property; Rehenuma Islam, Head of HR and Yeasin Arafat, Head of Jobs of Bikroy were present at the Grand Finale ceremony.
From the first prize winner team, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Alam said, The journey to be the finalist and then finally getting crowned as the winner was exciting. Our team has put a lot of effort into market research and to understand the internal and the external structure of the organization. We visited offices and did employee survey to have a deep understanding of the target group. We got into a trouble when one of our team members had a road accident. Still, we gave our best try and we managed to pull out the case well. We clinched our spot among top four groups and at the end we won the competition. Bikroy has done a marvelous job in successfully running the competition. Giving the participants firsthand experience of structuring a business model, marketing campaigns and how finance works. We have learned a lot from this project. We loved the experience of working with Bikroy. Everything about this competition was spectacular.”
Saad Shah Ali from the second prize winner team “Tarzan” said, “We cordially thank Bikroy for the wonderful experience. It was an absolute pleasure for us to be a part of it and we had an awesome understanding of this sector while we were researching for the case. We feel this competition was competitive and we enjoyed the engagement from our fellow friends. We hope to see Bikroy next year again with the bigger event.”
Chowdhury Golam kibria, Associate Professor of IBA – JU said in this regard, “This is a very exciting and encouraging program. It gives the students a great chance to apply their knowledge in real life Business organization that sharpens their ability in applying the theories they learn in classrooms and libraries in generating insights into real-life situations. I encourage Bikroy to organize similar events in future.”
Eshita Sharmin, Director of Marketing and Ad Sales of Bikroy said, “E–Commerce business in Bangladesh is now emerging widely. Many new entrepreneurs and manpower are needed in this sector. If the students of Faculty of Business Studies acquire practical knowledge besides their textbook studies, it will be easier for them to get access in this sector in future. Bikroy wants to encourage the future entrepreneurs by solving some practical problems of the university students. That’s why we have come up with this business plan competition for the first time and congratulate all the participants from Bikroy. We hope that the students will be able to use these experiences in their professional life.”
